BBQ May 2009

The Lodge Niederrhein BBQ May 24th, Paul Moor School,

It was a splendid day. What a good turn out, what a great BBQ, what a wonderful contribution to the WM Charity. The sun shone, the drink flowed and the feasting was exquisite.

The children played in this super environment and all of us left happier and richer in mind if poorer in the pocket.

14 resident brethren, with 12 wives and 12 children attended. There were 3 visiting brethren (Graham F, Ian L, Steve N) and 2 wives plus an additional 9 other guests. There were apologies from several brethren. A total if I am correct of 40 adults and 12 children)

Dietmar as Grill Master for the last time- he has being doing it for four years was as ever brilliant supported by Klaudia, who apart from being his main helper, gave permission for Dietmar to devote so much time over the years as Chef.

Again we were privileged to have the support of Jim and Brad labouring away from the beginning- supplying the drink and so aptly running the bar.

David J looked after the BBQ money and Nigel and Steve N (borrowed from Star of Saxony where are those joining forms) sold raffle tickets. Cedric was everywhere helping as always. Glyn took the money in his Treasurer capacity and kept us alert to how the fund was going.

All the 14 residents-and their wives- helped one way or another.

We raised substantial money from the raffle and I was able to auction a Samowar- courtesy of Ronaldo for EUR 170 eventually purchased by Tassos. In addition Peter J kindly donated a bottle of malt which went to one of the guests for EUR 55 for the WM Charity. Brethren we did rather well- but can only do better if more residents attend. But Brethren we actually made in total on the day EUR  543

His charity which will be equally split between the Paul Moor School and the GM Charity (Katie Ski Tracks) stands at EUR.6164

Brethren there are only a few days left before Glyn closes the books.

Well done Lodge Niederrhein, their wives, friends and children. What a team.

  Kind regards

 As ever

 David
