Visiting The City Lodge No. 5955
The reason for the whole excitement was that a Brother who had been initiated into our Lodge and had returned to the UK was being installed in the Chair of City Lodge N° 5955.
The Worshipful master, Our Secretary and their good ladies had decided to make a short break of it and had travelled down for the weekend. Four of us decided to travel on the Monday morning and take the Channel Tunnel arriving early afternoon. Unfortunately when arriving at the first Brothers House to pick him up, he was very ill and had to stay at home, and then there were Three…. The last pick up was actually in England just after the Euro Tunnel, and again there were Four! Finally three of our Brethren living in the UK joined us at the beautiful Freemasons Hall in Salisbury making our group to a total of nine.
The Meeting commenced at 17:00 Hrs prompt and was conducted incredibly well. The City Lodge had the Honour of having the Prov. Grand Master and the Past Prov. Grand Master present along with Many Provincial Grand officers and Grand Officers.
Only a couple of weeks before we had received the Founders Medal along with the original Summons for our first ever meeting from the son of one of our founder members. Our Secretary, enthusiastic as he always is, had asked the son to meet us in Salisbury for the meeting as he lived not too far away. During the Greetings, an unbelievable coincidence occurred…. The Brother gave Greetings from his mother lodge, St. Patrick’s Lodge N°765 in Singapore ( I knew the name was familiar) when our IPM shot up to order. So the son of our founder Member was a member of the same Lodge as our IPM in Singapore (it’s a small Masonic World isn’t it!)
We all then enjoyed the excellent Festive board, but I did have to pull our IPM by the ears to make him come!! ( If you would like that explaining, please ask the IPM)
Before returning to Germany, we decided to visit Stonehenge on the Tuesday Morning Returning Safely home shortly before 22:00 Hrs in the evening.
